Diversity of algal species present in waste stabilisation ponds and different factors affecting its enrichment and phototaxis

Several algal species were found in the samples collected from a wastewater treatment plant located Uttarakhand, India. media and their modifications employed to understand role of these elements compounds composition proliferation. Euglena, Chlamydomonas-reinhardtii, Chlorella-sorokiniana, Chlorococcum, several diatoms cyanobacteria samples. In stagnant flowing municipal wastewater, Volvox predominant. bold basal medium, Scenedesmus diatom observed along with Chlorococcum. presence acetate Selenastrum abundant. Metagenomic analysis during winter revealed that Tetradesmus wisconsinensis (21.23%) Actinastrum hantzchii (11.48%) dominant species. Some cyanobacterial accumulated near high-intensity light region. Hence, subsequent phototaxis experiments performed. Under white light, most showed positive phototaxis. However, under blue red all present sample negative green Chlorococcum Chlamydomonas Euglena pink neither nor was observed. obtained results provided new insights into effects studied parameters on species’ diversity
